If You Haven’t Seen These 5 TV Series On DVD, Stop Everything Now
Does anyone actually watch TV anymore? If you’re one of the few who hasn’t switched over to getting all of your televised entertainment from TV series on DVD (instead of watching them directly on TV), here’s a list to finally convert you.
#5: Jersey Mob Drama The Sopranos.
There’s really no reason not to have skipped The Sopranos. Nowhere else did a show ever get into this level of psychological depth with its characters, and nowhere except in a novel can you find this much texture and drama.
#4: Brand New American Classic ‘Mad Men’.
Still going, but already down as a classic American show, which often reaches heights that only shows like The Sopranos managed to pull off. Not only is the recreation of the 1960s perfect, but watching this TV series on DVD lets you experience the period without having to wait a week for each great new episode.
#3: The Office (UK Version).
Yep, the US version of this show is wonderful. It’s also very long — they’ve hit over 100 episodes and don’t show much sign of slowing down If you’re getting a little burnt out on the Pam/Jim story, go back to this BBC classic and see where it all came from. Unmissable.
#2: Larry David’s Hilarious Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Season 7 is worth the price of admission alone — it’s the only place where you can see a complete Seinfeld reunion, spread out over 10 wonderful episodes. This is everything the Seinfeld finale should have been, and then some.
#1: Dickensian Drama The Wire.
Easily one of the best shows ever put to film, this is the epitome of a TV series on DVD that found a second life on the digital format. While it never received massive ratings while on HBO, the quality of the acting, writing, and direction is so uniformly high, and the story it tells is so stunning on every level, that this Baltimore-based series is truly the best TV you can watch on DVD.
